Wekiwa Springs State Park in Florida

You will find the beautiful Wekiwa Springs State Park situated at the headwaters of the Wekiva River. Within this park, you can enjoy gorgeous vistas and can catch a glimpse of what the area looked like when the Timucuan Indians inhabited the land. Wekiwa Springs is just a short hour from many top attractions in Orlando Florida, so it can offer you an opportunity to just sit back and relax in a completely natural setting.

About Wekiwa Springs

Until 1906, the park was known as Clay Springs. Wekiwa translates to “spring of water,” while Wekiva means “flowing water” in the Creek/Seminole language. You will find millions of gallons of crystal clear water flowing from Wekiwa Springs to the Wekiwa Springs Run. Recreation has always been a part of the land, and you will find several buildings near the spring. For example, the largest structure is the bathhouse where swimmers would change into their swimwear. During the early days, in order to draw Northerners to the site, the springs were touted to be medicinal waters.
