Creating the Gardens
The land on which the gardens were developed by Mr. Harry P. Leu. The Leu family traveled all over the world, bringing back a variety of different exotic plants and over 240 varieties of camellias for their garden. In 1961, the Leus deeded their house and gardens to the city of Orlando for all to come and see their years of hard work. The grounds have over 45 different gardens, collections, and exhibits for guests to view. These gardens and exhibits each have a different atmosphere and will take visitors through the various travels made by the Leu family in search of such a diverse plant collection.
Events at the Gardens
Along with the stunning gardens and historic homes and buildings, the Harry P. Leu Gardens also feature special events. Along with being able to host private events, the museum hosts special events for visitors to come enjoy. These events vary from month to month, but include things like a seed swap, where green thumbs can get together in an effort to trade for unique plant seeds for their own gardens. The Harry P. Leu Gardens also hosts non-garden related events like Date Night Movies and even certain concerts on the premises.
Adults will need to pay $10 admission, while kids are just $3. Yearly memberships are offered for admission as well. The gardens are also free to visit the first Monday of every month.
