Orlando Hiking Trails

Tropical Escape Vacation Homes are around some of the best hiking trails in Orlando. You’ll find trails for beginner and expert alike in a variety of habitats. It’s a great escape from the city, with many beautiful trails to explore; read on to learn about some of the best Orlando hiking trails.

Bear Creek Nature Trail

Orlando hiking trails are well represented by Bear Creek Nature Trail. This is an easier trail, just under a mile, but you’ll be trekking through the shadowy grounds provided by giant looming trees. It’s a mix of beauty, as palms, oaks, and cypress make this site almost feel like a safari, alongside the creek that borders the hike. Keep an eye on weather conditions before hiking; if there was a recent heavy rain, this area may be marshy or flooded.

Black Bear Wilderness Loop Trail

Another bear named location is Black Bear Wilderness Loop Trail. This is the next tier up in challenge, proving a 7-mile hike through the wilderness of the bears. That’s right, you should keep your eyes peeled for bears! You’ll be crossing levees – some of which are historic – and going through tightly forested areas.  It’s not a walk in the park, but the realness of the experience will make you want to continue. Look up the pictures online and you’ll have trouble resisting.

Disney Wilderness Preserve

Disney Wilderness Preserve draws attention by its name alone. This is a nature conservation of over 12,000 acres for habitat preservation, with over 1,000 species of plants and animals.  They are open during the week from 9-5pm, offering an expansive hike through endless acres of greenery. It’s a real beauty where you may feel like you were transported to Neverland!

Flagler Trail South

Brilliant green grass and countless pine trees make sections of Flagler Trail South stand out. This hike taps into Florida’s history and Henry Flagler’s railroad, which the trail traces.  This 10-mile hike is considered more difficult, but if you are fit enough for its length, you will really enjoy this one.

Bill Fredrick Park

Bill Fredrick Park, also known as Turkey Lake Park, is Orlando’s largest park, with 178 acres. The land is a mix of rolling hills and lake shore, perfect for a relaxing park day, disc golf, or camping. But as this is about hiking, the route through this park is about 2.4 miles and takes you through sand, dirt, and marsh – plenty of variety!
